Residential Roofing and Roof Repair

Residential roofing, roof repair, waterproofing and gutters for Stockton homes

Roof repair, full replacement and waterproofing, plus the gutters that carry water away from the house.

Chapter 01

Why a small leak is a bigger job than it looks

When you have problems with your roof you do not have time to wait. Water that gets past the shingles soaks the roof deck, then the insulation, then the ceiling, and by the time a stain shows up the damage has usually been spreading for a while. The usual culprits are worn flashing around chimneys and vents, lifted or cracked shingles, and low spots where water sits.

Residential Roofing covers installation, repair and maintenance across a range of roofing systems, and Residential Roof Repair is the fast version of that: assess the roof, find the failure, fix it so the roof keeps protecting the house. In the Central Valley the summer sun is as hard on a roof as winter rain, which is why Roof Waterproofing matters too. Waterproof roof membranes are designed to withstand harsh UV rays and other elemental conditions, for residential and commercial roofs.

Your gutters belong in the same conversation. They are designed to protect the home's foundation from water damage, so Gutter Services here means installation, repair and maintenance.

How a roofing job runs on our schedule

A roof job is short on trades and long on decisions. We assess the roof first, tell you plainly whether it is a repair or a replacement, and put the quote together from the materials, the labor, the size and scope of the roof and the time on site. The consultation and the estimate are free.

Where the work is bigger than a patch, we apply for the building permits on your behalf in almost every case, and we keep up with local building code changes in Stockton, Sacramento and Tracy. If carpenters have to replace rotted decking or fascia, they are on the same schedule as the roofers, so the deck is sound before the new roof goes over it.

Our crews and subcontractors are fully insured. If the plan changes once the old roof is off and the deck is exposed, we stop, show you what we found, and get your complete approval before going ahead.

Chapter 03

After the roof is done: what to check each year

A good roof still needs looking at. After a storm, check the ceilings for new stains, look along the ridge and valleys for lifted material, and clear leaves and debris from the valleys and gutters so water cannot back up under the edge.

Downspouts should end well away from the foundation, not at its base. If water pools next to the house after rain, the fix is often in the gutters or the grade, not the roof. Questions about any of it are welcome on (209) 205-5901.

Repair or replace

Three steps, and you approve each one.

  1. Look

Find where the water is getting in

The leak you see on the ceiling is rarely under the spot where it shows. We trace it back along the deck, the flashing and the penetrations before anyone quotes a fix.

  2. Decide

Repair the roof or replace it

A localized failure can be repaired. A roof worn through across most of its surface cannot. You get both options explained and approve the one you choose.

  3. Close out

    Waterproof, flash and drain

Underlayment, flashing and waterproofing go in so the new work sheds water, and the gutters are checked so the water leaves the house instead of standing at the foundation.

If the damage reaches the structure under the roof, the carpenters on our framing and carpentry crew handle it, and a roof over a new room is part of a home addition.
