Siding
Siding replacement and repair on Stockton, Sacramento and Tracy houses
Siding does one job: it keeps weather out of the wall. When it cracks, gaps or rots, we replace or repair it and finish the trim and sealing that make it last.
Chapter 01
What fails on a wall, and what the job really involves
Siding rarely fails all at once. A board near the ground wicks up water and goes soft. A seam opens where two pieces meet, a corner cracks, a gap appears around a window. Each one lets water behind the siding, and the wall behind it is where the real damage starts: wet sheathing, rotted framing, a stain on the inside of a bedroom.
So a siding job is never only about the boards you can see. Replacing or repairing siding improves curb appeal, and properly installed and maintained siding also acts as an efficient insulator, which gives you more control over the temperature inside the house. The first thing we do is find out how far the damage goes and whether the wall under it is sound.

How Fischer runs it, in order
At the consultation we walk the house with you, look at every wall and note the dry rot, cracked boards and gaps. We choose the siding material with you and build a quote from materials, labor, the size and scope of the wall, and how long the job will take. Where the work calls for a permit, we apply for it, as we do in almost every case for our clients.
On site, carpenters cut out and rebuild any damaged framing and sheathing first, then the weather barrier and flashing go on, then the siding. If new windows are going in on the same wall, the window company and the carpenters are scheduled so the openings are flashed before the siding closes over them. You see each of those hand-offs reported back to you, and any change to the plan waits for your complete approval.
Chapter 03
Trim, sealing and what to check afterward
The last stage is the one that decides how long the work lasts: trim set tight, joints and penetrations caulked, nail heads and cut edges sealed, and the wall left ready for paint. We go over it with you at the walkthrough, wall by wall, before the job is closed.
After that, a quick look every spring and fall is plenty. Check the bottom course for soft spots, look at the caulk around windows and corners, and keep sprinklers from soaking the wall. If something looks off, call us at (209) 205-5901 and we will come look.

One wall, two teams
The order a siding job runs in.
Carpenters repair what is behind the siding before anything new goes up. The window company sets and flashes any openings on that wall in the same stretch, so nothing is covered before it has been checked.
You approve the quote, any change to the plan, and the final walkthrough. Your own schedule is worked out with you at the consultation.
Your sign-off: the quote, any change to the plan, and the final walkthrough. A job in Stockton, Sacramento or Tracy follows the same order.
