Countertop Installation

Countertop installation in granite and quartz, templated to your cabinets and finished with the sink

Kitchen, bathroom and bar counters for homes and businesses in Stockton, Sacramento and Tracy, handled as one coordinated job.

Chapter 01

Granite or quartz: choosing the stone before the template

Granite Countertops are cut from natural stone, so no two slabs match. That is the appeal: veining and color that belong to one piece of rock. Granite is usually sealed after install, and it is worth asking how often to reseal it.

Quartz Countertops are engineered stone, made from crushed quartz bound in resin. The pattern is more even from slab to slab and the surface does not need sealing. Many people pick quartz when they want a quieter, consistent look, and granite when they want the stone to be the feature.

Countertop Installation covers kitchens, bathrooms, bars and more. Choose the material first, ideally with a slab in front of you, because the layout of seams follows the slab.

Why the cabinets and the plumber come first

A countertop is cut to the cabinets that are actually in the room, not the ones on the drawing. That is why templating happens after the cabinets are set and level. Carpenters and cabinet installers finish first, and the template is taken from the finished run.

The plumber matters on both sides of the stone. The sink and faucet are disconnected or roughed in before the counter goes down, and the sink cut-out is made to the exact sink you chose. After the counter is set, the plumber hooks the sink and faucet back up. Fischer sequences those hand-offs so no trade is waiting on another.

You approve the material and the layout of seams before any stone is cut, and if anything changes on the plan you hear about it first and give your complete approval. We work across Stockton, Sacramento and Tracy, and the number is (209) 205-5901 if you want to talk through a layout.

Chapter 03

Seams, sink cut-outs and backsplash

Seams are where a good counter and a rushed one differ. A well-placed seam sits where the eye does not land, away from the sink and the range, and joins tight enough to feel smooth under a hand. Sink cut-outs are made to the sink template so the edge meets the bowl cleanly.

A backsplash finishes the wall behind the counter, whether it is a stone return, tile or another material you choose. At the walkthrough we look at the seams, the edge profile, the caulk line at the wall and the sink together, and talk through how to clean and care for the stone you picked.

Three hand-offs

Cabinets, then stone, then the sink.

Each team hands the room to the next in a set order. Here is how a typical counter job lines up. Your own timeline is worked out with you at the consultation.

Counters are usually one part of a bigger room. See kitchen remodeling for the whole sequence, or bathroom remodeling for vanity tops.

Your sign-off: the quote, the material and seam layout, and the final walkthrough.
